Everything you say here makes sense, and three things became highlighted as I read them: 1. Get the product out there. (Feature creep has been a killer my whole dev career...!) 2. Keep it simple. ("Understanding RSS" vs "Using Twitter" -- which has the masses, duh?) 3. Connect with people. (Everyone thinks they know who the "average user" is, but there is NO such thing as an average user.)
